Can Audio also be recorded?
Yes, but only in single-camera applications. Audio recordings reduce the recording capacity.

How does the recording time change in Multiplex mode?
In Multiplex mode, is it not possible to store in MPEG practically. In this case, Alcatraz works with a single picture storage which reduces the recording duration. With a full picture rate, the recording time runs up to approximately 24 hours in a very good quality, in Time Lapse Mode, the duration is correspondingly longer.

Can Alcatraz be started using an external infrared motion sensor?
Yes, the Alcatraz has external alarm inputs.

Can the picture rate be changed to 25 pictures / second for example and then record for 1000 hours?
No, that it is not possible. The omitting of pictures would only result in a slight extension of the recording duration.

Is it really necessary to record in a full picture rate (50 pictures / seconds)?
The evaluation of the pictures in full picture rate and in an excellent quality provides a much better form of evidence. In the future, you could no longer imagine recording with a reduced picture rate.

What possibilities of picture transmission does Alcatraz offer?
You can directly print individual pictures using a standard photoprinter or store them on a SmartMedia card. Approximately 600 to 700 high-resolution pictures can be stored on a 32 MB SmartMedia card. You can alternatively transfer video sequences direct to other media (e.g. a tape).

Can a Printer be connected?
No, pictures from the Alcatraz can either be printed using a standard Photo printer or stored on a Smart Media card.

Does Alcatraz also supply to end customers?
No, we only supply to installation companies. We would be pleased to provide you of the name of a reliable installation company which is close to you. This company will then present the Alcatraz and answer your questions (also refer to specialised retailers/Germany).

Can standard hard disks be used with the Alcatraz?
Yes, but only IDE-HDD.

How long can I archive using the exchangeable hard disks?
As long as required, you can use as many hard disks as you wish.

Which compression method does the Alcatraz use?
Alcatraz compresses with MPEG-2 , an highly-effective motion compression process. You can find a description of this process under recording methods.

Is a loan device or test device available?
Our sales partners are able to obtain demo devices for testing periods from our pool for testing purposes free of charge.

No, Alcatraz has its own operating system, one reason being to ensure that the data which is required for furnishing proof cannot be tampered with.

Alcatraz is designed in such a way that the software, updates or additional software products can be downloaded top an existing device in seconds. This means that your device will always remain up-to-date!
