The combined Heating and Alarm Module is specifically designed for the Alcatraz cameras. The module has to major functions:

• It can be used as a heating system for the Alcatraz cameras recommended for outdoor applications or environments wich are subject to extreme variations in temperature. The heating reliably prevents the steaming up of the camera lens respective the front glass freezing.
  
  

• In combination with an external infrared motion detector (PIR), the heating and alarm module can activate recording if motion is detected within the area of surveillance covered by the PIR detector. In applications where a 12 VDC infrared motion detector is used, the power supply of the PIR detector can be provided directly by the PowerInput module.

The heating and alarm module features two major components: The PowerInput module and the heating circuit board.

          

The power input module provides the power supply for the system camera and the heating. The standard power supply (MultiSwitch/ Camera) is disconnected. The camera and heating are only supplied by the PowerInput module. It is recommended to install the PowerInput module as close to the camera as possible to avoid current losses in the Cat5e cable. Experience has shown that a distance of approximately 50 m between PowerInput module and camera can be realized without problems.

The heating circuit board itself is installed inside the camera housing.

Note:
Alcatraz Cameras with an installed heating module must never be operated without the Powerinput module. The high current consumption would trigger the protection circuit of the MultiSwitch and therefore put the camera out of action.
